Okay here is the thing, if you like chocolate chip cookies with big chunks of chocolate and pieces of walnuts then you will like Little Brown. If you prefer them warm, then you will love this cookie. WOW! These cookies are actually housed in a warming drawer, a glass top - see through warming drawer. It gives me goose-bumps thinking about the chocolate, butter and nuts touching my palate. SO GOOD!http://bit.ly/HsxWIA

There is something delicious about ordering a dessert in a restaurant where you have to wait for it to be cooked. It could mean, fresh? An odd concept I know, but we wait for our savory dishes (sin mexican). Ditch Plains has a Brownie baked in a Cast Iron Skillet, a personal skillet that is. It is about the size of a mini personal pizza, but tastes so much better. The batter is actually spooned into the skillet, then the skillet is placed in the oven and baked for about 15 minutes. 15 minut... Continue reading...

Yes Ma'am! Good Enough To Eat on the Upper West Side has enough fresh sweets to make you salivate into overtime. My last count was 6 pies, 5 cakes and fruit squares galore. Inside their treasure chest of desserts on display lives an apple pie. This is not an ordinary apple pie, yet a Sour Cream and Walnut Apple Pie. A Sour Cream and Walnut Apple Pie that puts other kinds in this city to shame. My slice was loaded with apples and walnuts and topped with the mother of all crumbles. When was the... I would like to take a moment to rejoice. Rejoice to enjoying a soft serve frozen treat with fruit and no dairy. No more lactaid folks!! (well for this treat) Soft Serve Fruit Co. has four flavors, Banana, Apple, Pumpkin and Strawberry. Each is packed full of fruit because it actually is fruit. The ingredients are fruit, water and sugar... oh and love. They take the fruit, puree it and blend in the water and sugar. Once frozen it's served like soft serve ice cream. If you are watching wha... Continue reading...

I stumbled upon a little bake shop tucked away in land of show tunes. Donna Bell's Bake Shop has the traditional fare, cupcakes, cookies and a banana pudding. They have a little lemon square, the kind of lemon square that will not make your face pucker. It has just the right amount of tartness, the right amount of powdered sugar all on top of a crunchy butter crust. Ah, the perfect lemon square.bit.ly/donnabells Continue reading...

UPDATE: Zack Young's doughnuts are still awesome, but his frozen smore steals the show this summer! It is part of a special tasting menu: Key Lime in A Glass, Frozen Smore and a Mini Fried Whoopie Pie. The smore has homemade mashmallow, which is toasted and served with chocolate ice cream on top of his version of a graham cracker. Only this cracker is not a cracker, yet a thin cake. He always has an interesting twist on nostalgic favorites. If you are not a fan of shell fish, you still sho... Continue reading...

Get it while it's hot outside! Who knew that ice could taste so sweet and delicious! Imperial Woodpecker gives NY a new meaning to the word snowball. It's shaved ice served in containers we might only be used to seeing in Chinese restaurants. The ice is topped with a flavored syrup of your choice, in fact there are over 20 different flavors of syrup to choose from. The larger the size the more flavors you can choose. For a mind blowing sweet treat, top it with sweetened condense milk. I ... Continue reading...

Semifreddo in Italian means half cold and in English it means Mmmm Mmmm Good. When it is topped with hot fudge you have what I'd consider a bit of sex on a plate. I apologize, if you have Pistachio Semifreddo topped with hot fudge while it sits on a creme fraiche brownie, then you have sex on a plate. There are pistachio's in every bite, if you love pistachio's like I do then you'll be a happy person. The semifreddo appears in front of your eyes naked, but patience will tell you that a wondro... The Mast Brothers have been creating their chocolate for us to enjoy for a while and we thank them! For those of you who do not know chocolate outside Hersey's aka wax then I invite you to be edgumucated. Their plain chocolate has about two ingredients (love aside), cacao and cane sugar. Most if not all bars are dark chocolate around 72% cacao. They call it craft chocolate and if done perfectly (like theirs) then you need not add other ingredients. There is two whole ingredients, not even th... Continue reading...

It is an interesting concept and one that is well executed; a boutique that sells nothing but cake. Lady M Cake Boutique has an environment that makes you feel as though you've entered an exclusive one. A delicious confectionary environment that is. Each cake is elegantly displayed for your viewing pleasure, but no touching because there is a large glass panel separating you from the cake. It gives the cakes a museum or jewelry store feel. Behind the glass lives some tasty, fairly priced trea... Continue reading...

Desserts in NYC Rock!
Sugar loves me, what can I say. I love desserts in NYC. I originally created this blog for my friend while she was pregnant with her first child.
I would usually bring a little something-something when I visited. These NYC desserts came from all around the city. It was from her pregnancy the idea to create a place for people to reference a dessert wherever they are in NYC was born.
The funny thing is, now her son doesn't like sweets or desserts..... go figure.
As we all know most New Yorkers do not venture outside their own neighborhoods. Hopefully EatSomeSweets will get you out.
The blog is designed to be extremely searchable on an SMS phone. IMO, I believe it is easier to choose a location than scroll through a bunch of postings.
Also, I do eat every dessert I post about. My desserts are eaten walking around NYC or on the treadmill.
Enjoy!
